Some time ago I did a post that contemplated whether digitalpoint mods are sleeping? What about the other popular forums? v7n seems to be on a decline. Sitepoint had some really good tutorials for webmaster earlier but I guess Flippa is taking too much of their time now.
Got their email saying ‘they are cleaning up‘ their stickys, that doesn’t help the spam they get on the forum. What I fail to understand is why the spammers even bother to post there, the board doesn’t even give dofollow links in signature (though most dofollow forum lists incorrect has SitePoint).
I have tried many forums apart from DigitalPoing and I am still looking for a good one where real people have real discussions.

I think there are a lot of people who make money online (IM, writing, designers) who don’t take DigitalPoint serious anymore. I have been a member for about 1.5 years and I can say that I have not visited the site in about 6 months just because I got sick of the spam and ridiculous posts. It has definitely become more of a sales website rather than question and answer or learning site.

I see so much spam on the marketplace also, I think the mods do not even visit the site anymore, people post non relevant listings in the free section of the site all the time.

Great article. You can help max your RSS by adding your link to your networking efforts, and every time you send an email. Successful blogging always includes a bit of marketing. Oh yeah, and be sure to write about topics other people are passionate about!

Sorry But I don’t have any idea of site points. Can you please explain me exactly where it is required and what are its uses??

You need to go for a good site optimization & try to create back links as more as possible by forums posting, directory submission, blog creation & press realizing.

Good points mentioned. Coop has always been a reason for DP’s downgrade in rankings. By the way yep the Business section with Link Sales in it can be a big reason which is not supported by Google.

Hey its a good experience of mine from digital point and I’m really glad by their performance and services.

I used to be a regular on the Digital Point forums too. These days I only go back there to purchase or sell things. I don’t have the patience to go on there just for conversation or tips. Forums like that are being taken over by spammers and newbies. They ask questions just like Sam Muller above.

I depend on Digital Point to achieve the most accurate and dependable information that I can get my hands on – hands down. I use Digital Point for almost everything I do on the internet.

I feel they have very Speedy Service & good affordable prices too.
Disadvantages would be Not clear product description.

Site point is really giving a tough competition to those people who comment just to build traffic and they don’t even bother to read full blogs. I hope it works effectively and don’t delete genuine comments.

I think sitepoint is more than just a forum, I love their blog and have bookmarked atleast 20 posts that I keep going back to again and again. I am happy that they have removed dofollow from their signatures, I see less spam in last 1 year.

Like some other guys here, I am very pleased with DigitalPoint. Although I also got logins on Sitepoint and V7n, I don’t think I’ve really enjoyed those forums and I haven’t posted much there, apart from some blatant advertising
Just be careful and check the iTrader rating (and their language skills) before entering into any deals with the DP members. The majority of them is a bunch of great guys, though.

You are being really harsh to them, Sitepoint is a HUGE forum and it can’t be easy to manage and moderate the forum. Most mods would ‘react’ on bad posts being reported rather than actively scouting for spammers.

Digitalpoint is Spammers Haven. Same like william, I have been away from this forum for more than 6 months. I am still looking for another better forum.

I believe every established ‘community’ will get critics like you saying they are not as good as they were ‘initially’. That’s also said for companies as they grow bigger, it has got to do a lot with impersonalized operations as scale of forum/community gets bigger.

The sad thing about running a popular site is that the more popular your site gets, the more it draws in the scammers and spammers. We currently have many automated systems that protect users and a few more that are planned but have not yet been coded.

There are three “real” forums or communities I can highly recommend: BloggerLuv (brand new but promising – we’re working through some technical issues), our private blog collaboration SBC forum and Third Tribe.
(Edited): Private conversation.

I understand there is a “spam warning” on the top alerting the members on the standard rules of the forum because of DP, but the blog section should have some kind of rules of its own to prevent members from posting crap that doesn’t have any value for the blog readers. I was just browsing through the blog today and ran into couple of blog entries here and here that are nothing but copy/paste from the BST section. If we continue to allow this, then very soon we will have to dig through all the copy cat sales threads or junk entries in search of an useful post.
