Got their email saying ‘they are cleaning up‘ their stickys, that doesn’t help the spam they get on the forum. What I fail to understand is why the spammers even bother to post there, the board doesn’t even give dofollow links in signature (though most dofollow forum lists incorrect has SitePoint).

I have tried many forums apart from DigitalPoing and I am still looking for a good one where real people have real discussions.

What I had not noticed earlier and only noticed when I started writing the review is that the directory also allows free article submissions. It’s not common for eSyndicat directories to offer a ‘working’ article directory.

eSyndicat script owners and directory owners probably missed the memo when Matt Cutts wrote about how Google has ‘changed’ the interpretation of ‘nofollow’ attribute. The submit link and other internal pages still have nofollow attribute on them.

The directory 1318 listings (as of today) in business section but only 137 in financial services and 287 in Arts category, I guess they should go out of their way to fill these categories to make the directory more useful.

Overall, I would recommend website owners to submit their sites to this free web directory.

I pay around $6.99 per month for my hosting that allows me multiple hosts and 25 databases. My web hosting provider also gives me a cheaper hosting $3.99 per month if I only have one host. But I found an amazing deal for $9.95/year hosting for an ordinary account with a free domain name. I need to check out if this works well for directories, SiteGround says it’s suitable for blogs and forums. Forums are probably the nastiest beasts so I am sure directories will do just as well.

I liked HostNexus’s offer and have been thinking of moving my sites there. They are one of the very few hosting providers who provide Coldfusion Hosting at such cheap prices. Another thing that I want to try out is Ruby on Rails hosting.

4. Site’s niche (weight loss, loans, insurance site get least approval – 10-20%)
5. Affiliate links – amazon / ebay affiliates are not liked.
6. Top level domain or subdomain
7. Keywords in title (any repetition, too many words etc. might get less approval rate).
8. Description – short descriptions get less approval rate, descriptions with phone numbers, URL inside descriptions are also not liked by many.
9. PR of the directory (higher PR directories have lots of submissions everyday and can take many months to approve, they tend to have higher rejection rates), newer directories approve faster.

10. Category of the site. Some sites have a ‘clear cut’ category and there is no confusion. Shopping -> Clothing type of categories are probably the easiest, others are quite ‘vague’. Locksmiths, janitors etc. can go in shopping -> home & garden -> trade services or business -> services the directory editors might disagree with submitter’s choice.

11. Directory List – if a directory list doesn’t remove directories that are ‘obviously not approving links’, the approval rate can go down.

All directories give dofollow links in resource box and most allow anchor text within resource box.

I like the simple Google maps integration they have done on detail pages (not to mention the SEO friendly URLs of detail pages). As I said earlier, I like custom scripts and this one impresses me with great bread-crumbs on internal pages.

Also checkout the AJAX driven category selection mechanism, I wish PHPLD AJAX mod was as slick as this one. You should not that it’s a business directory and concentrates on business address and contact details rather than PR, Traffic etc. that usual webmaster centric web directories are prone to think about.

A lot of new categories on the business guide section of the directory. Though I miss and RSS feed on this section. Some of their articles are really good but there is no way for me to subscribe to alerts. (Maybe there is, but I couldn’t find it).

The review fee hasn’t changed on the directory, I do hope they will publish some coupons for DirectoryBlogger’s readers.

Conclusion:

iBizDir remains a solid business directory that I recommend business owners to submit their site to. For the PR hungry crowd, it’s  PR4 directory.

Why am I asking this? My friend from TopClickMedia, a search engine optimisation company tells me that SEO friendly directory doesn’t only mean the directory has SEO friendly URL, it should also strive to rank for keywords related to it’s category listings to have a significant impact on listed URLs rank.

I got my directories to rank for instant approval directory, fast approval directory etc. but I would like to be on first page for people like Dmegs or VMOptions. What kind of link building activities do you do for your directory?
