High PR directories are a must-have in your link portfolio, and if you’re loathe to pay for directory links, I suggest that you put your reservations aside and pay for a Yahoo directory listing. It does carry a whole lot of weight with the search engines, and is generally considered to be money well spent! Don’t waste your time with obscure, low PR directories though, it just ain’t worth the trouble!
