I love reviewing directories made with custom scripts or relatively non-popular scripts. Most phpld, esyndicat and indexu directories look very similar though some directory owners manage to put together a good template and many custom mods to make their directories stand out.

Today I am going to review a Blog Directory based on Dew-NewPHPLinks script. I should review this script in detail some other time. Some stats about BlogDirectory.vg before I dive in some features I liked (probably they come out of the box with the script being used).

Google Pagerank 2, close to 200 pages indexed in Google, that means many pages are still waiting to be indexed. More than 1000 links to the domain.

What I like in this directory (I won’t be reviewing it if I didn’t like it)

1. They let users write reviews about each entry. That can get a lot of UGC if they manage to make it popular with bloggers and release a widget that will show a random review from this directory on the blog.

2. It’s free, there isn’t any paid option either. No reciprocals required.

3. Easy account creation process. I normally hate to register in directories but these guys have made it so easy, I wouldn’t mind ‘quickly registering’ while I also submit my blog at the same time. I hope other directory owners will also adopt this concept.

4. Featured Site; I really like this one, they keep showing a different featured site (sometimes with a review) while I browse the directory. It’s not exactly a stumbleupon experience but it’s slick.

5. Category based search, I have rarely seen this one. Once the directory has 1000s of links, this would come handy.

6. Clean (not empty) template and not many advertisements on the directory, though it would be great if the advertisements could be blended better with the site’s background and font color.

7. Create My Category For Me – Another supercool feature, just like they solved the registration problem, they have also made a better “suggest a category” seen in other directories.

Directory uses a redirect for links just like many social bookmarking sites. This might confuse many bloggers to think the directory is not passing pagerank. In my opinion, it’s better to provide a direct link but directory owner might want to keep track of clicks on each link using this method.

Things that could make this directory better:

1. Redirecting blogdirectory.vg/directory to www.blogdirectory.vg/directory (or vice versa) would ensure PR is not split and google doesn’t see duplicate content. It’s surprising how many directory owners are making this mistake.
2. Meta tags look like they are for Dew-NewPHPLinks and not for a business blog directory.
3. About page is an advertisement for directory script and doesn’t say much about directory’s vision.
4. SEO-Friendly URLs are missing. By now everyone agrees on the importance of SEO friendly URLs, I wonder why a directory script will miss out on this feature.
5. Custom titles and meta tags for categories are also missing. It’s very common for directory owners to miss the custom meta tags for categories but the titles are normally taken care of by directory script. This one falls short.

Overall, I like the directory and will look forward to finding more such directories.

Brand new directory just opened up today. It is niched to blogs only. If you have a blog, submit your blog to this new blog directory soon. Plenty of good blog categories for just about any blog. Excepting of course adult, gambling and other blogs that are tilted that way or towards illegal stuff or warez.

Right now, you can submit your blog at no cost for a regular blog listing. Featured blog listings are very affordable. Now both regular blog listings and featured blog listings are on the directory permanently once they are accepted. Yes, each submitted blog is reviewed prior to a decision as to accept or decline the blog into this directory. Plus each submission is reviewed to make sure it is a blog, so please do not submit any other sites to this blog directory.

Featured blog listings are given a prime position since they are paid. First all featured blog listings are shown above all the free blog listings, so visitors will see those featured blog listings first. And secondly all featured blog listings are rotated on the main page, again a prime location for greater exposure and more visitors.

Now when you submit your blog, make sure you use a nice description because you want visitors to know right off the bat if your directory is worth their time in going to. As all blogs submitted are reviewed, any keyword stuffing, terrible descriptions, and of course no good description are deleted.

Please go to the Quality Blog Directory soon and submit your blog or blogs. It is recommended to purchase a featured blog listing now as it was stated above the price is very affordable at present.

How many of you have a blog or blogs? Now myself, I have 10 blogs in various niches. From my own personal blog to a blog that is about drink recipes. And I know that it is one thing to have a blog and quite another thing to constantly promote that blog. I am sure you have run into this problem, how do I promote my blog to get three things: a backlink to my blog, exposure of my blog, and visitors to my blog. And there are many ways to promote a blog, both paid and free ways. Now I don’t know about you, but I love to promote my blogs in blog specific directories. Not general directories that have a blog category, but a directory that is just for blogs.

The one big reason for a blog specific directory if you have a blog? Simple in that people looking for blogs to read in their particular niche love the fact that a blog directory has nothing but blogs and no fluff of other sites. So think about this, a visitor is looking for blogs about sports. Will that visitor have a better chance of finding blogs about sports in a general directory that is loaded with tons of categories, and sites that run the gamut from business sites selling widgets to sites that are about the latest place to vacation? Even if there is a blog category, chances are that visitor will not find much variety in sports blogs, if any are found. So that visitor goes to a directory of blogs, something like this great blog directory called BlogMango, and sees that there is a category that is nothing but sports blogs. Would the visitor be happy and revisit this blog directory? Yes. And what are the odds that the visitor will tell friends and family to go to BlogMango when they looking for a blog? Pretty good!

I like this blog directory because it is so darn different from so many other blog niched directories on the net. There is no advertising, no banners and no adsense to be found on the main page. Keeping it simple with the categories at top, all well laid out and super easy navigation. And right below the categories are two separate areas that list on the left side the 10 latest blogs added to this directory and on the right side the 10 most popular blogs. Such a simple concept and it really will make you like this blog directory, both as a visitor looking for blogs and as a blog owner wanting to submit your blog.

Blog owners can at the present add their blogs at no cost! This is a super bargain and one that no blog owner should bypass. The form to submit a blog is simple and easy to fill out. Now go to the Juiciest Blogs on the Net and submit your blog or blogs now.

Bloggeries Blog Directory is as the name says a directory for blogs. I know that this is probably the number one directory where blogs should be listed. Being listed on this directory will give a blog great exposure, visitors and a backlink. And I found it is not all that costly to get your blog into this directory as a regular listing is permanent and has a one-time fee of $27.99. Featured listing of your blog is on an annual basis and again the fee per year is low. Well worth paying the price of admission for your blog to be included in this excellent directory.

Two other super points about the Bloggeries Blog Directory are worth noting. One is their active forum and the link is found at the top center to enter the forum. Another forum worth becoming a member of soon. And the other is the blog where you can have your blog reviewed and placed on their page rank 4 blog. It does cost, but well worth the price!

Today I am seeing more and more directories going a particular niche. General directories are still out there and still coming online every day, and those are good for most websites. But I see that people tend now to search more for a particular niche when it comes to finding websites on directories. If someone is looking for blogs of interest, they are more apt now to search for blogs or blog directories.

Now if you are looking for a blog, or a particular blog in a subject of your choice, there really is a better way to find that blog. And that is going directly to a blog directory, like the Blog Directory. This directory has a good category tree of main blog categories, with nice blog sub-categories. Makes it so much easier for visitors to pin down the exact page to find a blog they want to visit.

Do you have a blog? Then you do need to advertise it and advertising your blog on a blog directory makes so much more sense. Visitors to a blog directory are looking for a blog and you miss out if your blog is not on the directory. The Blog Directory of course is where you want your blog to be listed. They have free listings so you can have your blog on at no cost, providing it meets the guidelines set out for this directory. Featured listings are by the year, and if at the end of a year you do not wish to pay, your listing automatically drops down to a regular free listing, a neat feature found in very few directories.

What I like about this blog directory is that the template is nice and clean, with a nice woodsy background and colors that do not overwhelm a visitor. Navigation is pure and simple with links shown at the top for the submission page, linking page and the popular blogs listed. And at the bottom of each page are the links for contacting the blog owner, and his privacy page. Do go to this directory today and submit your blog. Or visit often if you are looking for a blog to read.
