People love blogs – they love reading them, they love posting content on their own blogs, and they certainly love commenting on other blogs. And anyone who’s been running a blog that’s at least moderately successful, can easily tell you that the key component in ensuring the success of the blog is to build a solid, constantly growing base of readers who come back every day to catch up on what you’ve posted, and to contribute something of their own – a thumbs-up comment, some criticism and tips on how you can improve, or simply chatting up the other commenters.
You need to give those readers a clear incentive to contribute in this manner though – and the best way to do that is by using DoFollow blogs. After all, when somebody comments on your blog and leave a link to their own, they’re doing this with the idea that they’re going to potentially get a few new readers for themselves, thanks to that link. And if your blog is a NoFollow one, this incentive is automatically gone – and there’s hardly anything you can use in its place.
You may have your reservations about running DoFollow blogs – there are some rumors going around the Internet that search engines tend to process content on such blogs in a different manner, and some even claim that your rankings in those engines would suffer just because you’re running your blogs in DoFollow mode. This is not entirely true though – it’s not even close to the truth, actually. In reality, the only potential problems you may encounter from running DoFollow blogs are related to constant and ongoing spamming of various links to an extent where they become more than the actual useful content. However, rest assured that unless you reach that extreme point, you’ll be safe in your rankings by leaving your blog to run in DoFollow mode.
